Cupcakes of Hope Image 3 Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer is a non profit organisation who raises fund for kids with cancer. Early detection saves lives. Chocolate decorated cupcakes, beautifully decorated cupcakes, any cupcakes made with love are used to raise funds for these children.

In 2011, Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer set a NEW WORLD RECORD for the MOST Cupcakes on DISPLAY

– 21 000. Through this achievement we were able to raise R200 000! These funds were donated to Reach

for A Dream, CANSA Vereeniging and towards paying for the medical costs of three Cancer patients.

The biggest lump sum was donated to 14 year old Gerhard, who lost his leg due to Cancer (R60 000 was donated to pay for his new prosthesis). R25 000 was donated to Reef Carneson and R20 000 for Baby Mark Scott. We also used some of the funds to grant some special wishes (a family holiday for a terminally ill child, baby toys, sports memorabilia for a Cancer Warrior, girls birthday party and gifts for a special 4 year old patient, etc.). The only requirements were that the cupcakes had to be made with LOVE … And if you have a look at all the cupcakes donated, you will see that they were AMAZING. We received so many compliments and people said that they could even taste the LOVE in our cupcakes.

In September 2012 we hosted South Africa’s first National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer at 20 venues across South Africa. We raised an amazing amount of R507 000! How big a marquee do I need?

Are you thinking of starting your own marquee business? Have a read of some useful information which will help you to plan which marquees for sale and party tents for sale. slider3

Asking how big a marquee is required is one of your main jobs as a marquee supplier. Often the size of the garden will dictate the size of marquee but you still need to know how much space everything takes up to then plan suitable numbers.

Here’s how most marquee hire companies work out the space required in a marquee:

Round table seating up to 10 (usually 5ft or 5ft6in tables): Allow 3x3m -this includes space for walking between tables so for example a 6x12m area can fit eight 3x3m boxes so can fit eight round tables with space to walk between. Saying that it is more comfortable leaving one out to stagger the tables like this example.

Tradition long top table (usually three 6ft trestle tables but oval tables are similar): Allow 3x6m

Buffet (again usually three 6ft trestles): Allow 3x6m

Bar: Allow 3x3m for small functions, 3x6m in larger ones

DJ: 3x3m is usually fine

Band: 3x6m for a small band, larger bands you have to ask them (though be careful as they often want to take over half the marquee)

Dance Floor: A blog post in itself which will be written soon

Catering area: 3x6m or 6x4m for small functions, 6x6m for medium (80+ guests), 6x8m+ for larger functions (160+)

When planning layouts you also want to consider where people walk in to the marquee -ideally you don’t want guests walking straight in to a table so you may have to leave a gap. For marquees that are a bit tight consider having the entrance near the bar or dance floor to give some space.

Often you are asked to put marquees up over features like bushes, flower beds, small trees, water features or even swimming pools. This really adds character to a marquee so in my eyes should be encourages though as the marquee supplier it does make life a little harder and you should point out that it is not useable area. Often customers will need a larger marquee to allow for incorporating these features.

When planning the marquee remember which direction guests will be arriving from – you want it to look impressive. Windows make the marquee look more inviting – you don’t want guests believe that they are walking in to the back of the marquee. Also keep in mind access to the toilets, this may require an additional exit in the marquee.

County Hall also called as London County Hall is located in Lambeth, London. The London County Hall was the headquarters of London County Council and then later the Great London Council. Royal Mews

The name ‘mews’ came about at the Charring Cross at the south of Trafalgar Square sometime in the 13th century. Mews denotes stable, carriage house, and the recent times garage. The mews of the Royal family has been in two sites in London, the initial one being at the Charring Cross and since 1820s at the Buckingham Palace. The first Royals mews have been referred to as the King’s Mews, the Royal Stables or the Queen’s mews if a woman was on the throne.

The current Royal Mews is at the Buckingham Palace where King George III moved some of the horses and carriages for his wife’s use, eventually when his son, George IV made Buckingham Palace as the Royal official residence, the entire mews was moved to Buckingham Palace and the Charring Cross was destroyed and Trafalgar Square was built on it. The Royal Mews at the Buckingham Palace is open to public and one can view state coaches, other carriages, 30 horses and other counterparts. The chauffeurs, coachmen and other staff are accommodated above the stables in the quarters especially built for them. John Nash is yet again the famous architect who designed and built the Royal mews just as he did build many other ancient Royal sites in Britain.
