Hirose have enjoyed great success with our Mini B type USB connectors; however, we are quick to recognise the rapid advances in technology. The requirement for smaller, yet better performing connectors has now arisen. Due to this demand we have introduced our next generation Micro-B USB connectors which fully comply with Micro-USB standard (USB 2.0). In fact we can proudly announce that "Hirose Electric developed the original concept!" Our established expertise in the development and manufacturing of high quality, precision, fine pitch connectors were recognised by approval of our Micro-USB connectors as a standard interface by the USB committee.

Our Micro USB connectors are designed with space in mind, saving 25% in the mounting area and 48% in volume compared to our Mini-USB. Although smaller, they have a high speed performance of 480 Mbps and feature a superior mechanical and electrical performance. Mating and unmating operations of 10,000 cycles can be achieved offering longer life. Withdrawal forces (around 8 N) are maintained throughout its life.

We have several different varieties available and many more under development all of which meet with RoHs compliance. This broad product range meets many manufacturer applications such as ultra thin phones, data recorders, readers, cameras, PA headsets, hand-held GPS units and many other applications.
